This isn’t a scene from a comedy sketch—it actually happened. A woman walked into a Spirit Halloween store with her pet monkey, and yes, the monkey got loose inside the store. What followed was one of the most bizarre and hilarious moments of the season.

Bodycam footage released by FOX4 shows a police officer calmly approaching the woman after the incident and saying, “Keep a leash.” Simple words, but they perfectly capture the absurdity of the situation. In the background, you can see Halloween decorations, costumes, and even a large airplane model hanging from the ceiling—making the whole scene feel like a surreal mashup of spooky and silly.

No one was hurt, and the monkey was safely retrieved, but the chaos it caused was unforgettable. Imagine browsing for vampire fangs or skeleton masks and suddenly seeing a monkey darting between the aisles. Some customers thought it was part of the Halloween experience—until they realized it was very real.
The Spirit Halloween store is known for its over-the-top decor and spooky vibes, but this unexpected visitor took things to a whole new level. Between the flying monkey moment and the officer’s deadpan reaction, this story has gone viral for good reason.

📹 Real footage. Real monkey. Real Halloween madness.

Newly released Plano police bodycam footage shows the end of a disturbance at a Spirit Halloween after a monkey was seen swinging from the rafters of the store. Officers arrived at the scene in time to speak with the owner of the animal as she carried it from the building. By the time they found the woman, she had already reunited with her monkey, which had calmed down after the antics captured in Monday’s viral video. The officers spoke with the woman, telling her the monkey should be kept on a leash and admonishing her for allowing it to run loose in a public place.
